The Samana peninsula is on the northeastern of the Dominican Republic. Surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean on the north, and by its own Samana Bay to the south. The town of Samana has all sorts of scenery and natural attractions such as tropical mountain hills, astounding waterfalls like El Limon, caves with petroglyphs by the ancient Civilization the Tainos and so on. Samana is one of the greatest places to retire in the Dominican Republic.
Just at two hours drive from Dominican Repubiic capital Santo Domingo, Las Terrenas is the most important town in the Samana peninsula. Located on the north coast of the peninsula, it has a very stable and pleasant weather with temperatures between 68 to 88 Fahrenheit. The airport serving this area is El Catey International airport with flights from the United States, Canada and some European countries. Samana’s whole infrastructure is new, including a now ready and working aqueduct and a fiber optic system installed for TV, telephone and internet. The town has a relaxing mediterranean-influenced atmosphere with plenty of ocean front cafes and delicious restaurants.
